We have had Unkie Construction work for us on several projects, and have been extremely pleased with the high standard of quality and craftsmanship they have provided.
The first project was our deck. They drew out the plans from my husband's rough drawing. It is made of Purpleheart wood...extremely stout and beautiful. The railings have the thin steel cables, so it doesn't block the view, and they designed a unique subtle lighting system beneath the railing for a nice evening glow.
The next project was to cut out half a wall in the kitchen, thus opening it to the dining room, and adding more light and spaciousness to both. Our family room makeover has been the most complete and beautiful transformation. The cherry wood cabinets are exquisite. They fit in like a glove,as did the bookshelves below. The mantel has a special insert which comes out so that plugs can go into it, as it was designed to have a flat screen TV set up on it.
The slate fireplace updated the look, and the gas fireplace has been extremely nice. Overall, we have the quality of craftsmanship we have received from Steve Unkie and Crew keeps him first on our list whenever we think of home improvements.

In the summer of 2010, we asked Steve Unkie of Unkie Construction to give us bids on three remodeling projects that we were considering. We found Steve to be a great listener who provided valuable ideas and feedback as we explained what we were trying to accomplish. Steve provided the three bids within days. We found the bids to be detailed and extremely responsive to our earlier discussions.
Steve provided us with a work plan and schedule for the three efforts. The three projects were completed as scheduled and for the exact costs indicated in the bids – except for where we asked for additional changes….those were handled with change orders.
The completed work was done with the greatest degree of professionalism and craftsmanship that we have experienced in our 35 years of home renovations. We were delighted with the finished work and amazed by what was accomplished within the original bid amounts.
We were so pleased with the first three projects, that we asked Steve to give us bids on two more projects. When the bids came back at a higher cost than we had funds available for, Steve worked with us to design solutions that would accomplish our wishes while staying within our budget constraints. Again, we found the completed work to be astounding…..and we marvel at the professional work ethic of Steve and the craftsmanship of his team.
We strongly recommend Unkie Construction for any construction endeavor….. based on our extreme satisfaction with the upgrades to our residence and the pleasing experiences we had working with the Unkie Construction team.
